About US
Founded in 2020
Blackwood & Mahee Golf Club was formed in 2020 and is based at the Blackwood Golf Centre on the Clandeboye Estate near Bangor in County Down.
Blackwood & Mahee Golf Club was formed when Mahee Island Golf Club, following the closure of its course, joined Blackwood Golf Club at the Blackwood Golf Centre.
Blackwood Golf Centre was opened in 1994 as a premier pay and play facility.
This was closely followed by the opening of the Blackwood Golf Club. The two courses were a great addition to the area as it was an affordable pay and play facility.
Its reputation was enhanced with the hosting of the Ulster PGA championship in 1999.
Mahee Island Golf Club was established in 1929 and was famously linked to Northern Irish golf legend Fred Daly (the only Irishman ever to win The Open Championship) who started his professional career there in 1931.
The 9-hole island course operated until 2019, when its closure resulted in the club relocating its operations to the Blackwood Golf Centre and subsequently merging with Blackwood golf club.
